The Greater Seymour Area Foundation (GSAF) is a tax-exempt public charity that helps people establish and support charitable funds. Quite simply, the GSAF accepts donations and keeps them in permanent endowment funds. The Community Foundation of the Ozarks (CFO) invests the money and GSAF uses earnings from those investments to fund programs that benefit the greater Seymour area. GSAF is an affiliate of the larger Community Foundation of the Ozarks, based in Springfield, Missouri.
The GSAF was formed in September 1998 with Dr. Ronald Giedd, a retired school administrator, as the president. From the beginning, the foundation has maintained a legacy of empowering local citizens, community leaders, civic organizations, and other groups to address local opportunities and needs. The Greater Seymour Area Foundation accepts donations for the establishment of endowment funds and distributes a portion of the earnings from those funds to meet community needs.
All members of the Board of Trustees are volunteers. At present, there are 13 members, ranging in age from 21 to upper 70s. The Board meets the first Thursday of every month at the School Mom's Building in Seymour, Missouri.
The GSAF is the FAITH of donors in the future of Seymour.
The GSAF is the HOPE of those in need today and tomorrow.
The GSAF is the CHARITY found in the hearts of the people of Seymour.
To enhance the quality of life for the residents of the Seymour area through the identification of problems, determination of solutions, and creation of an economic means of addressing the situation for the benefit of the residents.
I, Janice Blankenship, have been on the GSAF board since it began. I am very proud of our foundation and am happy that our community has supported GSAF since the beginning. It belongs to the community and you control how successful it is. I hope that the Seymour community will continue supporting it as it grows and you can see how it helps the community's needs and will continue as the funds grow. Thanks for your help with fundraisers in the future.
